CASA of DuPage needs
Powerful Friends like you…
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of DuPage provides an Advocate for abused and neglected children who are in this county’s court system.
CASA is independent from social services and focuses solely on the child’s needs. Each Advocate reviews records, interviews parents, teachers and doctors, and visits his or her child at least once a month. We often find out important information that others miss. Our advocates then appear in court and submit their findings to the judge.
Caseworkers may come and go. Lawyers may change. A CASA Advocate may be the only person that child can count on to be there — every step of the way — focused only on what he or she needs.
These advocates volunteer their time — free of charge — to act as “the voice” for these abused and neglected children. Yet, it costs money to run this valuable program. CASA of DuPage is a not-for-profit organization that recruits, trains, and supports volunteer Advocates — it is not a government agency. Each year it takes nearly $400,000 a year to keep the program going. We rely solely on private donations and grants. Unfortunately, Federal, State and County budget cuts are putting our agency in jeopardy. Your help is needed.
